I’ve been an active analyst of the Soviet Union and Russia since 1988. Back then, I was a researcher at Oxford University on a project called “Soviet Economic Reform and its Relationship to Political Change”. After that I worked on the Russia team at the EBRD from 1991.
Most of my career (since 1994) I have worked in the equity markets, both buy and sell side. I was part of the first Russian equity research team at a Western bank, at CSFB. I worked for local brokers, local fund managers, and international fund managers. I’ve been an equity strategist, a telecoms analyst, a Director of Investor Relations, Head of Research, and Portfolio Manager.
